First 4 Weeks in Review

                                                           Estimated
                               Spent                   Savings         %Saved

Week 1                   $114.42               $54.72         32.4%
Week 2                   $124.70               $85.68         40.7%
Week 3                   $98.81                 $67.05         40.4%
Week 4                   $100.43               $160.66       61.5%

Total                        $438.36              $368.11        45.6%

My thoughts:  I feel like for the first 4 weeks that I did a pretty good job, we have definitely stocked our pantry (which should help staying w/in the budget) and I have learned a lot about shopping at Walgreens (currently my husbands favorite store - after this weeks Chex Mix and Pepsi deals!)

I do think that $100 a week is a realistic budget for our family (even though Todd thinks I should bump it up to $125).  So we will see what weeks 5 - 8 bring and we can re-evaluate after that!  Happy Shopping!

1-13-11 Target Clearance Trip

So I learning something very valuable (literally) this week:  Be sure to mark your calendars for the Target 75% toy clearance and be there when the store opens the day it happens for the best selection.  I think Target clearance sale started on the 12th and I didn't make it into town until the 13th ... next year I have already marked my calendar to watch blogs the week of January 9 - 13th (so I can get there first thing in the morning).

With that said I still managed to pick up a few things:

SCX Compact 1:43 Slot Racing Set - Easton's Christmas Present for 2011 unless Todd talks me out of it before then! 12.46 (regular 49.99)

Paperoni Deluxe Studio - not sure who this is for but for 2.78 (regular 11.19)

Lego World Racers Gator Swamp - maybe a gift for my nephew or one of the older kids we buy for 19.98 (regular 39.99)

Toy Story 3 Green Army Men w/parachutes - for Todd's Easter Basket ... he loves Army Men so this will be a nice surprise! .98 (regular 3.99)

I also picked up 3 pairs of shoes (in bigger sizes) for Easton that were all between 50 - 75% off (4.24 - 9.98) - they might not be name brand but for how fast he is outgrowing everything they will work perfectly for up here!

Dinner and Walmart

So last night we decided to drive into town for dinner.  I had not left the house yet this week and was getting a little stir crazy!  While in town I convinced Todd that we had to stop at Walmart to see if they had any good CLEARANCE items that we needed ... here is what I found:

Christmas items 75% off:
     Staked Sign 1.25 (was 5.00)
2 large tins ... to put cookies in next year .75 each (was 3.00 each)
Christmas Crayons 6 - 4packs ... perfect for my purse so Easton always has crayons .50 (was 2.00)

Toys:
Playdoh Poppin Movie Snacks 5.00 (was 10.00)

Anyways .... I didn't find a lot ... but I did pick up a couple things.  I am really anxious for Target to markdown there left over toys to 75% off ... hoping I can score a couple to have on hand for upcoming birthdays!
